A stunner! Wonderful ad and very apt for a criket crazy country like India. Nike has released a new ad. based on the concept of gully cricket. Only this time there are no cricket stars playing in the ad. It brings back memories where we try to create make shift pitches and squeeze in every possible empty space into a playing ground.

A bunch of school kids are stranded inside a bus caught in a traffic jam. Two of them get on top of the bus, without wasting any time and start playing. Soon more and more people join the game and even a statue acts as an umpire. Great music, a konkani song (sounds like a Spanish song), great visuals and a wonderful theme. Below is the video of the same.

How the ad was conceived and created

I rented "Big Fish" last weekend and I am glad that I did. Big Fish is one of the best movies I have seen in recent times. This is a story about a son trying to know more about his dying father by relieving the tall tales and myths his father told about himself.

Edward Bloom is a master story teller. He has tall tales to tell everyone about his life, about his achievements and failures. His stories are filled with big things, big events and big characters. Everyone enjoys them except his son William Bloom who thinks that they are not real and his father was making them up. He is fed up with his stories and is disappointed for not knowing about his father's real life, and leaves him.

After 3 years Will gets a call from his mother and comes to know that his father is terminally ill. He visits his father and tries to find out who he really was by relieving the stories that his father told about himself and it surprises him and also us towards the end of the movie.

This is a feel good movie. The visuals are stunning and it's a fairy tale ride. The movie also has a lot of metaphors and it makes us think about the characters, places and the events depicted in the story.

Highly recommended and must watch.

A column by Paulo Coelho. Read this in yesterday's DC.

A lion met a group of cats having a chat. "I'm going to eat them," he thought. But then he began to feel strangely calm. And he decided to sit down among them and pay attention to their conversation.

"Good God," said one of the cats, "we have been praying all afternoon! We beg you to make it rain rats from the sky!" "And up to now nothing has happened," said another. "What if the Lord does not exist?"

The sky remained silent. And the cats lost their faith.

The lion rose and went on his way, thinking, "Funny how things are, I was going to eat all these cats, but God stopped me. Even so, they stopped believing in divine grace. They were so worried about what they were lacking that they did not notice the protection they received."

A general rule in parenting. Give 100% of what your child needs and only 10% of what they want. As children of God, we have what we need and let's stop cribbing if we don't get what we want.
