« Ironies of Destiny | Main | Just Do It »

I rented "Big Fish" last weekend and I am glad that I did. Big Fish is one of the best movies I have seen in recent times. This is a story about a son trying to know more about his dying father by relieving the tall tales and myths his father told about himself.

Edward Bloom is a master story teller. He has tall tales to tell everyone about his life, about his achievements and failures. His stories are filled with big things, big events and big characters. Everyone enjoys them except his son William Bloom who thinks that they are not real and his father was making them up. He is fed up with his stories and is disappointed for not knowing about his father's real life, and leaves him.

After 3 years Will gets a call from his mother and comes to know that his father is terminally ill. He visits his father and tries to find out who he really was by relieving the stories that his father told about himself and it surprises him and also us towards the end of the movie.

This is a feel good movie. The visuals are stunning and it's a fairy tale ride. The movie also has a lot of metaphors and it makes us think about the characters, places and the events depicted in the story.

Highly recommended and must watch.
